Everything But the Bagel Seasoning Quick Facts

  • The History Channel states that Polish immigrants brought bagels to New York City sometime in the early 1900s
  • During the 1970s or 1980s, someone invented the everything bagel – but the exact identity of the inventor isn’t perfectly clear; “MasterChef” Joe Bastianich, entrepreneur David Gussin, marketer Seth Godin, and media personality Brandon Steiner have all tried to claim ownership of the everything bagel, and therefore the everything bagel seasoning
  • The everything bagel seasoning blend is comprised of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onion, garlic, and salt and is often paired with cream cheese
  • In 2021, the most ordered bagel type on GrubHub was the everything bagel!
