July 30, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

Rising from the RubbleĀ is a labor of love on many levels. The story of Boldt Castle is well known as George Boldt’s loving gift for his wife with its abrupt end to construction with her passing. This work by Gerald Borland and Hope Irvin Marson explores Dale Fikes’ love of his work with the Thousand Island Bridge Authority to correct 70 years of neglect for Boldt Castle.

Join us as authors share how this book came to be and highlight the work accomplished to this local landmark enjoyed by more than 200,000 annual visitors.

AboutĀ Rising from the Rubble:

This is a unique, previously untold, story of the 25-year project to restore Boldt Castle, a well-known landmark and tourist destination in the Thousand Islands. It reflects the dedication of local native, Dale Fikes. As Clerk of the Works for the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, Fikes engineered the clean-up of Boldt Castle, built during the gilded age of northern New York. Written by award-winning author, Hope Irvin Marston and Gerald Borland, the text is enlivened with personal incidents known only to those involved.

Adults welcome. Event is held at the library. No registration necessary! Contact Amanda with questions at 315-785-7715.
